No more diapers!!!

I am proud to announce that Hudson Sumner is officially potty trained. He still has some accidents but for the most part he is potty trained. He wears "big boy" undies all day and wears a pull-up at night. Here are some of our funny potty training stories. . . The first time Hudson went #2 (as Hannah calls it) on the potty chair he was so proud of himself - until, that is, he looked down and saw a "snake" as he called it coming out of his bottom and into the toilet. He jumped up from the toilet with a terrified look on his face saying "hold me, a snake!!" He was pretty reluctant after that to go #2 again, but he is now back on track. One night my mom came over to visit the kids and Hudson called her into the bathroom to see his results (very proud of having a #1 and #2) My mom was very impressed until she picked him up and he peed all over her suit =) Last week at Hannah's ballet lesson Hudson had to go to the bathroom so it was our first time using a toilet in a public place. I am not used to boys and potty training so I learned very quickly that with boys you have to watch their aim. I came out of the bathroom with a large wet spot on my jeans as a result of Hudson over-shooting the toilet. Now I make sure he is 1) back far enough on the pot and 2. Pointing his shooter down!! Oh yeah, and you have to make sure they "shake" before getting off the toilet since they don't use toilet paper!! Potty training can wear on you that's for sure. We now have to restrict Hudson's intake of liquids before bed. Last night he woke up five times to go to the potty. I was proud of him so I had to get up each time and help him out, but I really wanted to say "Just go in your diaper and wake me up in the morning!" Tonight at Hannah's ballet lesson I had to take him to the bathroom at least 10 times just so he could "toot" in the toilet!!! I am glad he is so polite, but like one of the other mom's said "that wont last with a boy". Give him a few years and he will be proud to "let it out" outside the bathroom. I have to admit seeing him without a diaper on is bitter-sweet. On one hand I am so excited that our little boy is growing up and learning to go potty on his own and I am happy to leave behind the expense of diapers, wipes, creams etc...but on the other hand it makes me a little sad to think that this will be the first time in five years that we haven't had a baby in the house or at least a little one in diapers. I love those little diaper bums!!!! I also love the smell of a new package of diapers. They smell like babies!!! This chapter of our lives may be over and that makes me a little sad. We are truly blessed to have these little miracles in our lives. More stories to come . . . . .
