This week we had one day that was just "one of those days". The kids had been fighting all day, I had been yelling at them all day to stop fighting, they were whining, grumpy, demanding, and hard to deal with. To make matters worse I was having "One of those days". I was frustrated at how messy our house had gotten and tired of nagging at the kids all day. Everything seemed to be irritating me. As I was cleaning the kitchen I found Hannah's worship cd (Shout to the Lord kids is the name of the cd)so I asked Hannah and Hudson to come into the kitchen (of course I had to call their names 3 times b/c they couldn't hear me over their bickering) I decided to try something new. I put my hand out to hers(Hannah)and reluctantly she put her hand in mine. I turned the cd on and said "Let's dance". The kids kind of grumbled at first but a few minutes into it we were all having a blast. We took turns being the leader of the dance moves and we talked about Jesus and all that He did for us and continues to for us today. I told the kids how much Jesus loves them and how much He loves mommy and daddy too. We talked about our attitudes (especially mine) and how Jesus wants us to be kind, loving, and gentle. We talked about how blessed we are to have food, a house, health, and each other. We danced and talked through 12 songs (the entire cd). Afterwards the kids were so kind to each other and to me =) I had a new attitude about housework and about my kids. I thought to myself "There is only one name that can change the heart of a 2 year old, 4 year old, and 33 year old and that name is Jesus!!!" There is something about singing about Him and listening to His promises for us that changes us and gives us hope. I went to bed with a thankful heart. I think the kids did too. Hannah prayed for all the kids that don't have what we have (food, family, health, etc..) We are truly blessed. I know this time with them won't last forever. I want them to see an example in me that reflects Gods love for them. Thankfully, God is a God of mercy and grace!! We all have bad days and God understands. We just have to pick ourselves up and try, try, again!! God is faithful in the good days and bad. Love ya!!!

Thanks for sharing! I keep getting so mad at myself for losing my patience and getting mad. Thankfully God is patient with me and not mad at me. Yesterday God gave me the word "teach" to replace "discipline". I'm now thinking, "what do I want to teach them right now?" That helps change my perspective on things :)
Loree! Hello from Boulder :) Thanks for sharing such a beautiful story of how God is always desiring to redeem situations for His glory and our good. You're so right...no other name can bring peace to the hearts of children and adults at the same time. Also, congratulations on starting your photography business! The photos are gorgeous! It looks like you're accomplishing exactly what you set out to do. what would you think about a session with the razavi's in boulder?! much love to you and your family! love, nat :)
I hear ya! We definitely have those days, and I am completely humbled when Carolyn is the one to suggest prayer or praise music! It's such a blessing when we get so see some of the fruit from what we are trying to teach them. God has been bringing that word "teach" to my mind, as well, like Carol said. Isn't it great to know we aren't alone and that God is good, all the time?? :-) Love you and appreciate your sharing. Alison
P.S. I didn't mean to be "anonymous", I just don't know what I'm doing! :-)
