The Nutcracker

Carol bought us tickets for the Nutcracker as a Christmas gift. It was a girls day out (Me, Hannah, Carol, and Maegan). We went downtown to the circle to first enjoy some chocolate from the South Bend Chocolate Company. The girls both ordered ice-cream (go figure), Carol ordered a coffee and a delicious cheesecake, and I ordered an assortment of chocolates and a mocha. I felt like a kid in a candy store =) I couldn't decide what to get. No matter how old I am I think I will always love the candy store =) Hannah and Maegan sat at their own table (a bar style table looking out the window). The show was great. The girls loved the ballerina's and the story behind the nutcracker. I used to see the Nutcracker every year with my mom and sisters when I was younger. It brought back a lot of fond memories. Carol even remembered a year that she had come with us. It was a wonderful time. Doug watched the boys so we could go and he not only survived but had dinner ready when we arrived home!!! The girls went immediately to Maegan's room and shouted "no boys allowed". They put on pjs and pretended to be having a sleepover. The boys played in the basement (the usual: wrestling, cars, shooting each other, and throwing things across the room). I laughed when Maegan came out with a pen and clipboard to "test" the boys to see if they were smart or not. She hit up Hudson first "What is 100 plus 100?" Hudson: "60?" Maegan: "No" (and then marks it on the board) Maegan: "What is 2 plus 1" (I told her to try easier math - wink) Hudson: "3" Maegan: "Good job" (she again marks it down). Maegan: "What is 10 plus 10?" Hudson: "I have no idea" Maegan then coaches him "Ok start counting from 10 - she says all the numbers leading up to 19 and then Hudson says 20!!!" Maegan writes it down and then proceeds to the basement to quiz Spencer. They really crack me up. I love seeing them interact and have fun together. Thanks Carol!!! After 25 years of friendship you are still the best friend a girl could ask for =)
